About Us

Vancouver Web Fest (VWF) is a groundbreaking international festival dedicated to web series creators from around the world. Founded in 2013 by executive producer Suzette Laqua, it became a leader in digital entertainment, making history as the first Canadian festival exclusively celebrating web-based storytelling. Bringing together creators, industry leaders, and digital innovators, VWF provides a platform where creativity thrives, industry connections flourish, and the future of digital storytelling is shaped.

Since its launch in May 2014, Vancouver Web Fest has evolved into a premier global platform for independent creators, championing innovation in digital storytelling. Recognized by IndieWire as "one of the leading destinations for quality web content" and hailed by Raindance as a “must-attend” event, the festival brings together visionary filmmakers, industry leaders, and digital media enthusiasts. More than just a celebration, Vancouver Web Fest is a dynamic hub for networking, collaboration, and the future of online entertainment.

Over the years, VWF has grown into a world-class event, hosting past editions at respected venues such as Granville Island’s Performance Works and the Vancouver Convention Centre. As a innovator in digital storytelling, the festival has captured media attention, with The Province heralding it as “the future of broadcast.” With a legacy of excellence and innovation, Vancouver Web Fest continues to inspire and empower creators, offering an unparalleled platform to showcase groundbreaking content and connect with industry leaders worldwide.

After a short pause in 2019 due to Suzette Laqua’s health, Vancouver Web Fest made its exciting return in 2025 under new management. Filmmaker and entrepreneur Dominik Bari now leads the festival as Operational Manager, bringing fresh vision and dedication to its legacy of celebrating and elevating digital storytelling.

With fresh vision and renewed energy, Dominik has revitalized Vancouver Web Fest, expanding its reach and impact within the ever-evolving digital entertainment landscape. His leadership brings new opportunities for creators, industry professionals, and audiences to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the future of storytelling.

Today, Vancouver Web Fest remains a premier event for web series creators, celebrating talent, innovation, and collaboration in the ever-evolving world of digital storytelling. It continues to be a vibrant hub where creators connect, share ideas, and shape the future of online entertainment.
